PayPerPost to Drop Alexa and Require Advertisers to Choose EITHER RealRank or Page Rank

RealRank Explained

PayPerPost/Izea trying to pick up the pieces after bloggers under the PayPerPost umbrella had their PR nuked by Google.
The crammed through “Real Rank” is a number that rates its bloggers from 1 to n. “n” being the number of bloggers opting into the RealRank System. If PayPerPost has 85,000 bloggers signed up and ALL of those bloggers were to put script on their then you would have blogs with a rating of 1 thru to 85,000.

From my estimate- there are about 5-6,000 blogs using the system now.
One of my zeroed sites, with former PR5 with traffic of about 1000+ visitors a day has ranked in the 40-50’s.
The Alexa ranking on that site is under 400,000.

No More Alexa at PayPerPost

According to a PPP developer, Pete at PayPerPost will be doing way with Alexa rankings entirely. Previously advertisers could specify limitations and limit an opportunity to bloggers based on their Alexa Traffic Ranking , using traffic ranking tool. Traffic ranking is being used as part of the formula for RealRank.

Choose RealRank OR Page Rank- Not Both

PayPerPost will also require advertisers to choose either RealRank OR Google Page rank when offering an opportunity to bloggers.
This is a critical move- and a good one. PayPerPost has to make its advertisers accept RealRank. Getting advertisers to use RealRank will literally make or break PayPerPost.
The dropping of Alexa and the option to use RealRank or Page Rank by IZEA is expected to be in use early next week.

Encourage Advertisers to Use RealRank

Everything should be done to encourage the use of RealRank if PayPerPost want to service this blow. Offer discounts and other incentives to get advertisers to pick RealRank over Google Page Rank, whatever it takes. This is critical.

Getting advertisers to use RR will also make bloggers happy. Many have seen huge cuts to their revenue when their page rank was knocked out. They are going to start to miss that money in the coming weeks and they will turn very quickly on PPP once they see that they won’t earn that kind of money again.

How Will RealRank Work? What Does it Mean?

The new RealRank system in place is to ask advertisers to offer an opportunity to bloggers that are a “1”, “2”, etc up to “9” .
Offering to RealRank 1 blogs means you are elimination 10 % of RealRank bloggers- the offer is available for 90% of bloggers using RealRank
RealRank 9 means you are eliminating 90% of bloggers- and opportunity is available to the top ranked 10% of IZEA bloggers. If there are 10,000 bloggers and 10% of 10,000 is 1000 then only blogs with a RealRank of 1-1,000 are eligible to take a RealRank offer 9. Whew.

Expect some changes as they work out the kinks. Personally- I would have gone the other way- RR1 being the more exclusive and it is more clear. getting into percentiles can be confusing. Having a low numbered blog with RealRank position of 57 being good and then assigning a higher number to lower numbers.. well it its confusing. However, maybe I am wrong and advertisers are more comfortable with the lower to higher number that Google PR has.

            1. Thank you so much for the information. I have no Google PR yet. I am not sure if it is because my blog is still new (almost 3 months old) or because I am advertising through PPP.

RR is definitely a great help. I am @ 300+ rank right now.

            2. Hey, I have a question. My blog has both realrank codes and alexa chicklet on it.On the latest Alexa update, my rank (about 4 million) got lost and replaced with Blogspot’s rank (9).

Was this due to my realrank codes? Does alexa disallow any realrank elements?
