Implementing the Newish Google Ad Manager On Some Sites

Google Ad Manager is a new service offered by Google for Google Adsense publishers. You can use it to sell ad space. It lets you set up and manage ads on your site or blog very easily.
An idea whose time has come for many site owners and bloggers who are not comfortable/don;t know how or don’t have a safe payment method set up for advertisers to buy ad space.
One significant factor is valuable real; estate that may otherwise be taken up by a ” your site here” ad can also be used with Adsense Ads.
using the new Ad Manager to not be as intuitive as Google Adsense. It is not something you can can start and finish in 5 minutes.
The tutorial the Google is using for the new program is awful and bound to leave many newbies in tears.

I started setting u today and when I have a bit of data I will post some hints and tips on using Google Ad Manager. It is sure to be a powerful tool- especially when it comes to reporting.

iPhone Launch in Canada On Friday Amidst Controversy

yes, I know I am posting disproportionate amount of cell phone posts lately. I tend to hyper focus on things and this month it is cell phones and smartphones.

iphones have not been available in Canada but I have seen many. Canadian have been buying the phones over the border using an American address ( which I believe is illegal)

I am not a fan of touch screen stuff. When looking for a new phone the helpful clerk commented when I was looking an an HTC that i would hate it… because of the touch technology- I knew exactly what he was thinking- that an 40-something soccer mom would not be able to use it… ARGH. No, i just don;t find it the most efficient way to sue a bleeding phone!
Anyway- I better learn quick as I am planning on getting a Samsung Instinct next month when they are released by Bell.

I digress. I have been following Roger’s Canada marketing of the iPhone here in Canada. It has been highly anticipated and followed int he media because of the way Rogers; has chosen to market the phone and consumers have reacted with fury, Apple has also been disgusted and their is speculation they will not even carry the iphone in their Apple stores. Rumours abound that they will also short ship the phones and send them over to Europe instead.

Why the controversy over the iPhone?
Rogers ( up until a couple of days ago) rate package was completely out of whack and a blatant exploitation of consumers.
1) Contract length of 3 years.
You can only get iPhone on a NEW three year contract. Current Rogers customers must wait to upgrade to an iPhone.
2) Cost. On top of phone plan ANOTHER 60.00 just to use iPhone. You won;’ believe what comes next and what you get for 60.00
3) Data cap. Rogers will allow users up to 400 MB of data transfer. Ouch. This is a gross amount of money to charge and will get eaten up by most users very quickly by apps like GPS and media transfers.

Many believe in part because of of several grassroots campaigns to boycott and petition Rogers, like www.ruinediphone.com , Rogers announced yesterday that they would offer a new plan for limited time ( very limited). They are offering a $30-a-month plan with 6 GB data on the iPhone, on top of voice plans that start at $20 plus a system access fee of $6.95 a month. The new plan will be offered only until Aug. 31 and only to new users.
Still not that great.

Switching Over to Wi-Fi Cell Phone From Blackberry

I is with some shame that I admit I lose my cell phones regularly. And lost one again about a month ago. It is most likely somewhere in our house or has been folded u into a newspaper and put into recycling or fallen somewhere never to be seen again.
So I have been living a month without a phone. This week I gave up and resigned myself that the phone is gone and I can’t go any longer without a cell phone.

Great Deal On Blackberry Pearl

BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Smartphone Sapphire (T-Mobile)
That I just couldnt pass up.. and did.
I had pretty much decided on a BlackBerry Pearl. They had a good deal on at Coscto and with my hardware upgrade the cost was going to be 50.00. I was literally about to pay for it when I thought I better sleep on it. It was a fantastic deal but I was annoyed by the data packages of 25-60.00 a month.
I would be tied into another 3 year contract with bell mobility and a data package of a minimum 15.00 for Blackberry services- that was just for email and no data transfer.
One of my girlfriends uses her to get her email- for free. I went back and asked some question and I was in fact on the right track- The EXTREMELY helpful sales clerk dealing with all the phones and plans told me that all phones would be wi-fi and getting stuck in a data plan was a bad idea.

He recommended I wait a month and get the Samsung Instinct, a phone that has been deemed the iPhone Killer and a phone that has been the only serious contender to come up against Apple’s iPhone. I did some reading and I am pretty much sold.
In an effort to undercut iPhone pricing at Rogers Bell Mobility will be offering an unlimited browsing package for 10.00 a month compared to iPhone 60.00 plan.

I will have to get the nitty gritty n what they mean by “unlimited” has I have yet to find a package where unlimited really meant unlimited.

So… I am using my husband’s old Nokia 6586 for now 9 which I HATE, keys are too small.)
