PayPerPost/IZEA to Roll out Long Awaited and Timely ” Argus” aka??

Payperpost may be rolling out their new metric for bloggers any day now. Things have really heated up since MANY bloggers who use payperpost ( sometimes called “posties” ) saw dramatic drops in their Google Page Rank this month- Google has been heavily penalizing sites it suspects of “selling page rank”; i.e., paid links without nofollow tags.

There has been talk of a new metrics for several months. Most advertisers and posties have been unhappy with the current system of rating a sites “worth” and how much a post on particular blog is worth. Sites with PR5 see offers of $20-50 per post of approx. 100 words, regardless of traffic and overall content. A similar site with PR2-3 may only be offered 5-10.00.
Alexa traffic rankings can also factor in but is primarily Google’s PR that sets the bar. Changes have been promised to desperate posties who have seen their income plummet.

Search Engine Guide Surrenders

Wow… Funny yet poignant at the same time.
Robert Clough, publisher of Search Engine Guide post a recent IM discussion with his editor Jennifer Laycock.
It is funny because they are both very smart, witty people… its not so funny because I hate seeing the little guy lose.

The post is in response to Google punshing sites that do not use NOFOLLOW tags on their advertising links. Google does this in an effort to thwart the GROWING trend of “buying” page rank by purchasing text link ads on highly ranked sites. Previous to last Octobers Google page rank update Search Engine Guide had a toolbar rating of PR7. They are now at PR4.
Robert is not bothered by the drop in page rank- he is annoyed at having to dance to Google’s rather large fiddle’s tune.
